"Bitcoin Friendly" Will Not Be Enough

Bitcoiners get excited about bitcoin friendly political candidates. But we have yet to be shown a candidate who seems to grasp what's at stake.

Many bitcoiners have been getting excited about bitcoin friendly political candidates. It's understandable, even by those who typically choose to exercise their right not to vote. But the magnitude of the challenge we face as people of the world demands far more than the unfortunate lack of its consideration which has been presented to us by most current and potential elected leaders.

Our systems of money and debt are dying and few are immune from the damaging effects. Some of which we all experience today as prices relentlessly rise while our cities rot and corrupt all around us from within. The corruption of the measurement and communication of value through our money has already delivered parts of humanity some devastating blows.

Burdening future generations with gratuitous irresponsible consumption today through crushing debt-financed boondoggle economics is not a sustainable path forward for humanity. Directionally we will have no choice but to return toward the path of sound money if we wish to survive the final global death blows of collapsing fiat monetary regimes.

Any candidate running for elected office, to be taken even somewhat seriously by bitcoiners, should demonstrate that they understand the full monumental gravity of this challenge. Their charge must be an intense laser focus on this issue above most others as it affects so much around each and every one of us every day. They should understand the dire consequences and costs of remaining each day in a fiat debt paradigm and be prepared with achievable plans to bridge the inevitable transition with as much care as possible. All of this with an understanding and consideration that the effort may take generations and span multiple terms of office to complete.

There is no ease at all in this task. Most are ill-prepared to even conceive a path forward and many still are not even aware this problem even exists. But a monetary transition is inevitable, whether or not elected leaders worthy of this challenge emerge. Just being "bitcoin friendly" will not be enough.

Until then and beyond as ever, tick-tock, next block.
