I’m going to speak plainly and honestly here.
A great poisoning is happening here in America. The food is being poisoned, the waters are being poisoned, our homes are being poisoned. This poisoning is both intentional and not-intentional. It is not intentional by the people who are consciously or unconsciously ignorant of the poisons of our time. Your parents who continue on drinking their diet sodas, eating their processed food and foregoing the local farmers market in favor of the nearby Walmart. Your friends who spend hours a day on a compromised social media platform, rotting their brains away with short form video feeds. Your local teachers in the infiltrated public school systems who know not what they are teaching or why, yet are causing harm to our youth.
We live in a dualistic world. Predator and prey. Humans can be predators or prey… or we can transcend. That would be a subject for a different discussion… I digress. Predator and prey. If we come to a realization that some of our communities are being preyed upon, ought we not do something about it? That is the point of this post, this unraveling of my thoughts here today.
I find myself in a predicament here in the rural countryside of Minnesota. It’s a predicament because I am amidst a transition in my personal life. I grew up in the corporate landscape, largely… indoctrinated by the television and public school systems, poisoned by the very food and drink I was served in my early years, and corrupted by the onslought of toxic social media. Yet, I am here now in a position in life in which I source all of my food locally, ensuring I know exactly where it comes from, I ditched my smartphone and in a large part social media too, I’ve been actively engaged in learning how to farm/garden via mentorships and hands on--real world experience. My life now is in stark contrast to my life then.
Along with this, I find it challenging to connect to others in this place that I live and work in rural Minnesota. I love farming/gardening as it is my primary work, yet I also find it isolating to a certain degree. It’s good to be able to take our produced to the market and interact with those who buy our produce and support us, but this comes only once a week for a few hours. This is my social time for the most part. I’ve got a few friends with whom I meet up occasionally, which is a real great thing. I am grateful for these people and soon I will be meeting regularly with one of them to talk bitcoin, which I am excited about. So, things are improving on the social side, yet I am also noticing that there seems to be a bit of a lack in the social atmosphere where I live for folks like me. I keep asking myself how this can be changed and what role I play in making this place more suitable for social interactions for folks like us. The farmer, bitcoin, health-conscious, active type of folk. People who realize a great poisoning is upon us.
I feel tasked to be more active in my local communities. I feel called to be a voice for change. I feel called to be a real person in my community… crazy to say, yet I feel this way. I feel that most my life was lived as a lie… I feel most my life thus far was lived largely in dillusion of what is true reality. I feel most my life thus far was just me trying to escape the horrors of the world. I escaped through video games, youtube, food, sensual things. How much of that constitutes a real human being their truest self? Thus, I feel called to be more of who I am. A free human being. Someone who is real, in the real world, experiencing existence fully.
A great poisoning… how do I speak about this in my community? How can I lead in a good way? How can I take the first step?
These are questions I ask ~
