This is my first Photo Tip and I'm a little bit excited.
Your Photographic Archive
I know it could be sound a little bit strange but as a photographer i can swear you that keep your photos organized is really really important. Comeing back home with your camera and download all the photos in a desktop folder named "Today's Photo" is as far as possibile from start with the right foot, believe me ;)
First thing: Create a folder named "Archive" (or use the name you prefer) on your Hard Drive , possibly not the same Disk of your Operating System (Why? -1 )

Ok, first step is done. Now the second one: Let's create a folder named with the current year's name:
YourHardDrive/Archive/2023/
At this point your archive is ready for your photo. Now we suppose that today you went to the park to shoot a lot of pic to your son, let's create a folder named like this:
231003_Park_WithMySon
AAMMDD_Name_of_event (Why? -2 )
Now the path have to look like this:
YourHardDrive/Archive/2023/231003_Park_WithMySon/
At this point you can download your photo in the last folder you've created? Absolutely NO! Inside today's folder is a good thing create another one named "raw" if you shoot in raw like me, or "original" if you shoot in jpg, we'll talk about what does it means in the next Photo Tips ;)
YourHardDrive/Archive/2023/231003_Park_WithMySon/raw/
and finally you can download your camera files, to view, select, develop and export for print or for web ;)
Tomorrow you are going to take some photos somewhere else? What you have to do is simple: just create a folder inside 2023 named:
231004_Photo_Somewhereelse (with a "raw" folder inside) and the game is done ;)
Now, if you think it could be complicated take a look at my Archive:
1- Because if in the future you will have to format your operating system drive you will erase your photo too, and that's not what we want
2- Because use AAMMDD is the only way to have your folder sorted by date
