Red Chile Sauce From Pods

The more seeds and veins you leave in, the spicier it will be. You can also toast the pods in the oven to make the flavor smokier.

Ingredients

  • New Mexican Red Chile Pods
  • Broth
  • Garlic

Directions

  1. 🌶️ Soak the dried chiles until soft. 🌶️ Remove the stems, veins, and seeds. (Leave more seeds in if you like extra heat.) 🌶️ Blend with broth until smooth. 🌶️ Strain for a silky sauce. 🌶️ Simmer for about 30 minutes with fresh garlic and oregano. 🌶️ Yields about 3 cups of finished chile sauce. 🌶️ Pour it over enchiladas, burritos, eggs, tamales, posole, or just about anything that needs more flavor.
