Nostr fucking sucks, and I have absolute proof

I've tried telling people about nostr every chance I get for the past few years, in person and online. When everyone on reddit was complaining about censorship after the ICE murders started, I was even "doing shifts" on reddit, spending hours finding good places to tell people about nostr.

What happened to this person?

1. They were unable to get any engagement, partly because of how apps like Primal do shit like just hide my posts from my followers, so reposting their posts didn't give them much of an in-road.
2. They had to choose between leaving or starting over with a new npub, because of some scamware third party login manager, probably nsec.app, made by grifter devs to prey on beginner confusion about nostr's unusual login system. They didn't bother with starting over, because blocking their logins (on top of filtering out all engagement) completely undermined my "no bans" selling point.

Other than that, basically the only result is this has helped me lose all the "offline friends" I had left after my facebook ban.

I've tried digging through nostr for good posts to screenshot, and post in other places, like reddit. Nobody else seems to do this except me.

Some of the posts have gotten thousands of upvotes and views, and even avoided being banned/removed. Some of them even have clickable links to the original post in the comments.

I post all my YouTube videos on nostr first, and then the YouTube versions always have links to the nostr versions. One of my videos even focuses on nostr as a topic.

Also, plebs.app (where I was posting most of my videos) was fucking up the formatting of the posts, and putting some kind of "hazardous content, are you sure you want to continue?" warning on all my videos. Instead of fixing it, the dev mainly kept making it worse, and then abandoned it.

Now it's gone, and I haven't found another worthwhile nostr app focused on videos. So now I just use jumble to post my videos. This also means there's no longer a "my videos" page where you can see all the ones I've posted, like a YouTube channel.

I post all my articles on nostr first, and then other versions have links to the nostr versions. Nostr is often a big topic in these posts, too.

I've posted and helped fund software bounties that always include nostr-related features, and links to nostr copies of the posts.

Also, I used habla.news for these links, because even though habla.news filtered my posts from visibility in main feeds, at least the links worked and allowed comments with no login. Now, habla.news seems to be abandonware, and the links are just 404 errors. The state of NIP-23 is another area of nostr that just keeps getting worse.

Every copy had a nostr ad with a QR code, and I printed many copies and went around leaving them in newspaper racks and other public places.

Some of my work included actual on-the-ground reporting, like the news about a protest disappearing on a university campus in Maine. I couldn't find any reports at all other than mine, from me actually going there, but I still got zero engagement on nostr or anywhere else back then.

Also, I used w3.do to shorten all my QR code links back then. This seems to have turned into more abandonware, leaving more broken links.

Some made by hand, printed out, given away or posted on bulletin boards, like this one.

And some generated by bots, with maybe a bit of human editing, not printed, just posted for others to circulate online. Like this one.

Nobody but me does anything with these, I just post them or hand them out and nothing happens.

I was one of the first people to try treasures.to and create nostr geocaches. I put some nice things like a silver coin in them.

One of my caches seems to be missing from the map now, not sure what happened to it. The other 2 show zero people have ever logged finding them or searching for them.

Whenever I can make it to a protest, I try to go and promote nostr to protesters. This weekend, I wrote a high-visibility + high-traffic "join nostr" in chalk at a protest in southern Maine, where I also handed out a few printouts with QR codes.

While I was in the area, I also wrote #grownostr on the beach a couple times.

And here's me this weekend, showing my face (which I prefer not to do in my current state of health), plugging nostr on a protest live stream by Status Coup and Mercado Media.

I want to thank Andrew Mercado and his cameraman again for their time. I was getting very angry at the world, feeling very unheard, and kinda going crazy, not knowing if my nostr recommendations were even reaching people. I was also mistakenly blaming the protest movement for downplaying nostr, instead of blaming nostr for fucking sucking. I was becoming unacceptably bitter and unable to get along with anyone. Getting the chance to talk about nostr on the stream gave me a psychological reset I needed. It gave me proof, it's not that my posts are blocked from view for everyone that would care, it's just that no one cares.

And here's me the next day, at another protest, with a bigger, more readable sign (including a #grownostr QR code).

I also went around at the end talking to people, telling them if just a few people would take my advice and post about the protest on nostr, we could completely flood the #grownostr hashtag with protest posts. A few people took pictures of the QR code and told me they'd check it out (a response I get often).

I don't see a single new npub on the #grownostr hashtag yet.

Meanwhile, as I was spending my entire day preparing to spend my entire weekend promoting nostr, the original creator of nostr was recycling a half-assed version of one of my most tired(-of-waiting-to-be-implemented) ideas, without reposting my posts or giving me credit.

Next, maybe he'll implement a shitty version of it that's missing multiple key details of how I've said the tagging system should work, and lazy people will start saying "don't we already have this" instead of actually reading what I'm fucking saying when I talk about what we need.

That happens a lot: I keep saying we need something, someone makes a shitty version to detract from my statements, no one makes the actual thing I said we need (unless I add funding).

Nostr 1.0 is made by glowie grifters who want it to stay shitty and small, because they're loyal to the Nazi global regime, not the real world.

All this time I hoped I was growing nostr, all I was doing was proving nostr fucking sucks.

Do I get paid for promoting nostr?

Nope. Until nostr gets big, I intend to give out more tips than I receive. I don't even have a lightning address, I'm waiting for more nostr users to get rid of their lightning addresses so we can use real money for tips.

Meanwhile, I have to pay to promote nostr. And because nostr was made by grifters with a half-centralized design to promote paid servers, I've had to pay nostr devs over a million sats for a so-called "Primal Legends" subscription, just to make it embarrassing how they continue censoring me and doing everything they can to make sure I convince ZERO PEOPLE to join nostr.

Think about that for a minute - the deal wasn't "we are censoring you and for a million sats we will stop," it was "we are censoring you, and everyone is too retarded to notice how embarrassing that is. This place is flooded with fucking grifters who keep saying it's your fault for being mean or just letting us make money off your posts without paying us yourself. Maybe if you pay, there will be at least be some people with the single brain cell needed to notice how embarrassing the censorship is."

Growing nostr requires more than "spreading the word." I've tried "spreading the word," I've made sure people around me know nostr exists. They don't care. Nostr is not fucking good enough for their brainwashed brains to see the point, and glowie grifter devs made it that way on purpose.

I think I'm pretty much done trying to promote nostr. Maybe I should just work on trying to make nostr stop fucking sucking, taking it out of the control of the racist scammer morons that have created it. Maybe others will step in to promote nostr when it stops being so fucking bad.

Maybe I should try to make it grow without promoting it, instead of promoting it without making it grow.

Either way, it feels beyond hopeless right now. I feel almost no chance of being rewarded for my work, and a very high chance of being imprisoned/killed for it, when all I'm trying to do is ensure the reign of Nazi retards doesn't go far enough to wipe out all known life (if they haven't locked in that outcome already).
