You Were Never the First Choice

When life brings an old mistake back to you, show that you've learned the lesson.

You Are Not Unforgettable. Did You Forget?

Your name went unspoken for a long time. Then, one day, the person who left you came back—not because they suddenly discovered your worth, but because their other options had run out. You were on the bench all along, just as someone else once was while they swore you were the only one.

The greatest fear of an empty soul is finding itself reflected in the loneliness it has been avoiding. And loneliness has a way of placing mirrors everywhere. As one option after another disappeared, you became the choice born of desperation—a convenient substitute, carefully selected to shield them from the painful disappointment of facing themselves.

Modern accessibility has turned relationships into a shameful game of musical chairs, where bonds conducted by the rhythm of emotional need leave those without a seat believing they simply lost the game.

Of course they were bound to come back eventually. What surprises me is seeing you mistake that return for a personal victory. Can't you see that this reconciliation is merely the product of dwindling probabilities? That you are the contingency plan left standing after every preferred possibility has been crossed off?

I'm giving you this push so you don't fall into the same place again.

Because the second fall is almost always worse. It takes longer to get back on your feet, much longer to heal, and life has a way of making every repeated mistake more costly until you finally learn to keep moving forward. I believe it's time you did.

So it doesn't matter who reappears or what conditions they bring. Remember this: if you had truly been as valuable to them as you now want to believe, they would never have left you, nor reduced you to an option.

Think of this as life giving you an exam after all its harsh lessons. This time, there are only two possible answers—

and you only need one:

No.
