Life is movement. Every single cell in your body is constantly moving. Your blood and lymph are in motion. I don’t know about you, but I want to be on this planet for a very long time, and I want a body where life flows to the fullest and which will back me up until the very end.
I want to use it, not lose it.
Here’s how I do it. While working on my computer, I simply move and switch positions. Because the best posture is always the next one.








Think outside the chair
In the photos above, you can see a kneeling chair. But what if you have a classic office chair at home? Look, the reality is that even the most expensive chair (and even a kneeling chair) won’t save you. Even if you managed to maintain the perfect posture, staying frozen in it for 60 minutes straight is wrecking your body. Why?

Static Overload: The muscles keeping you upright are working isometrically (constantly flexed, zero movement). Soon, they run out of oxygen, lactic acid builds up, and the ache begins.

Stalled Blood Flow: Prolonged sitting slows down your circulation and stalls metabolism in the tissues around your spine.

Sure, it’s anatomically the least straining position, but it’s unsustainable. In reality, it just doesn’t work and nobody actually does it. Still, for a quick 20 minutes, it's fine (just remember the eye-level rule - that’s a game-changer).
When you’re deep in your work, your brain redirects all energy into thinking and completely pulls the plug on posture control. And then…

It’s completely natural, so don’t beat yourself up over it. Slouching for a bit isn’t the issue. The issue is staying locked in that slouch for two hours straight.
Let’s legalize bad postures!
Try changing positions right on your chair! At least every 20–30 minutes. Then stand. Then sit on the ground. Then go to nature.

Why 60 Minutes of Evening Training Can’t Reset an 8-Hour Coma
Strength training, cardio, flexibility, and balance are absolutely essential pillars for holistic health. If you shut your laptop after eight hours of sitting and go work out for an hour, that’s great. It builds your muscle capacity, stronger bones, and a more resilient heart.
But don’t turn it into an alibi.
Modern science shows that even the hardest evening workout cannot erase the metabolic and structural damage caused by all-day sitting. Medicine even has a specific term for it: “Active Couch Potato.”
This means that an hour of intense exercise cannot replace eight hours of static sitting. Both forms of movement are important, but each serves a different function.
The physiological reality is unyielding: after just 30 minutes of static sitting, your fascia (connective tissue) goes through a fascinating process called thixotropia. It transforms from a flexible gel into hard cement.

The muscles around your back and hips lock up in a shortened position
Read that again - this happens after a stupid 30 minutes in an unchanged position!
If you load heavy weights at the gym onto this stiff, bricked system in the evening, you aren’t asking for progress - you are asking for an injury.
Instead, I take movement snacks throughout the day (every 30 or 60 minutes). I love balancing, hanging, and a deep squat or a horse stance are pure gifts for my back and hips.

UPGRADE vs MAINTANANCE
Look at it this way...
Strength training, cardio, flexibility, and balance training is a system upgrade - it builds your strength and clears your head of accumulated cortisol.
But routine micro-breaks during the day are preventive maintenance. If you break an hour of movement into six 2-to-5-minute micro-doses right between coding blocks:

Your fascia cement never sets

Your blood vessels stay elastic

Your brain never switches to a dull autopilot

You end up way more productive - at work, in your head, in life, and in bed!

On top of that, you easily stack up 20 to 30 minutes of movement during the workday without even noticing
When Hardware Freezes, Software Glitches
This brings us to the bridge between body and mind. A stiff, immobile body has a direct impact on your cognitive thinking, your creativity, and your code - AKA your PRODUCTIVITY!
When you sit motionless for hours with your eyes fixed on a single point on the screen, your brain initially loves it because it conserves energy. But you will pay a terrible price for it.
Tunnel vision and physical immobility force the brain into its default setting: Autopilot.
On autopilot, you lose perspective:

Your mind starts looping in quiet, repetitive cognitive cycles

Overthinking sets in, followed by creeping anxiety

A thick brain fog takes over

Your creativity literally suffocates from a lack of oxygen and fresh blood flow
Most people try to solve this mental stress with their heads. They try to “think their way out of it” or suppress the stress using pure willpower.
Top-down approach. It doesn’t work.
You have to go through the body.

Stress, cortisol, and tension are physically written and stored inside your muscle hardware. You cannot analyze them away.
You have to mechanically shake them out, hang from a bar, release them through eye movement, or literally dance them out of your system. Bottom-up approach. If you want to change the software, you must first disrupt the hardware.
Forgotten Muscles: Eye Movement is Movement Too
When I talk about movement, I don’t just mean your hips and your back. Most IT pros completely forget about the six tiny muscles right inside their heads. Your eyes.
Digital eye strain isn’t caused by blue light - your monitor won’t burn your retina, it just screws up your sleep. The real issue is the static spasm.
For hours on end, you fixate on a single point just 50 centimeters away. When you focus deeply, you also stop blinking. The eye dries out, and the focusing muscles literally turn to stone. The result? Exactly the same as your fascia. Pressure behind the forehead, fatigue, and heavy brain fog.
Your eyes are a direct hardware cable into your nervous system. If you want to release tension in your head, you need to move your eye muscles.

Deploy These Updates
You don’t need to rewrite your entire life code from scratch tomorrow. Just deploy these first small system updates to turn your office into a Living WORKSPACE:

Deploy Regular “Movement Snacks”: Every 30 to 60 minutes, step away from the screen for 2 to 5 minutes and get back into your body. Don’t overthink it, just execute: jumping, balancing on one leg, a deep squat, a horse stance, hanging from a doorframe pull-up bar, stretching, or dancing. Find what you enjoy.

Destroy Static Sitting: Remember, the best working position is always the next one. Change it up. Ditch the standard chair, try kneeling for a bit, sit directly on the floor on a zafu cushion, or stand up.

Trigger an Eye Reset (The 20-20-20 Rule): Do some eye gymnastics. Every 20 minutes, look into the distance at least 6 meters (20 feet) away for 20 seconds (ideally out of a window).
