The new “Why We Fight Back” cinematic trailer for VALORANT’s 2026 season seems to confirm that Viper and Chamber are in some type of relationship, and gamers are not sure how to feel. At this point, you’d think most people play Overwatch, VALORANT, and Apex Legends for the lore. I barely ever hear people talk about some of these games until there’s a new ship of some sort, like Fuse and Bloodhound’s convoluted romance (one of, like, seven relationships in Apex Legends’ roster). Now, dating simulator VALORANT has shared some preeeety big hints that Viper and Chamber are a thing, despite her previously not seeming very into him. Are Viper and Chamber confirmed? The new cinematic is gritty and intense, featuring a score of “Toxic” by KiNG MALA and Audrey Nuna and an accompanying snake motif. In one incredibly artistic and sensual scene, Chamber wraps his arms around Viper to comfort her in a state of vulnerability. The VALORANT community was quite pleased with this specific portion of the trailer, with many stating that they have shipped Viper and Chamber together since he was added to the roster. Throughout VALORANT’s lore, Chamber and Viper have had a pretty complex relationship, although it was largely professional. While Chamber was always flirtatious with her, Viper seemed to constantly turn him down and bring it back to serious work matters. At one point, Viper even said she’d rather drink her own poison than go out on a date with him. It clearly played into many gamers’ “from enemies to lovers” fantasies. Despite Viper’s disdain for Chamber, many apparently saw them as a couple. Riot has now played into the community’s ship with the latest cinematic, showing the two together in a very intimate way. While many have cheered on the romance, some have voiced concerns with the dynamic. One player pointed out how the ship perpetuates the idea that you should keep pursuing a woman even if she says no. Riot Games disappointed me. This is a terrible ship. It means that if a woman tells you "no," keep harassing her. Sooner or later she'll spread her legs. And Viper proved it. — катя чифар (@Chifar111) January 5, 2026 This sparked a lot of debate around Viper and Chamber’s dynamic, with some gamers coping by interpreting some of Viper’s insults as a sign that she was flirting with him. Maybe this was to make themselves feel better that they had been fantasizing about the two getting together despite Viper’s continued shutdowns. However, it should be noted that the agents shown in “Why We Fight Back” are not the Alpha Earth versions. The couple embracing in the cinematic are from Omega Earth, which is basically like the alternate version of Alpha Earth. The Viper screaming in anger over the death of Chamber is not the same as the Viper from the main storyline. I guess. This has left some players confused whether Viper and Chamber are dating in Alpha Earth or if this is not canon and a completely different timeline is unraveling on Omega Earth. It would excuse Riot from claiming that enough harassment will get you the woman of your dreams if this were strictly on Omega Earth. But we’ll have to see how this all unfolds. Let’s hope it’s all solved before the next VALORANT game drops . You know, tackle the important stuff.
