    "content": "**Single-party accountability** may refer to the security principle that accountability for certain risks should not be shared by multiple parties.\n\nIn a very simple example, imagine a wife draws a picture for her husband and asks him to keep it away from electronics. If she finds a copy of it online, she can hold her husband accountable, knowing he's the only one accountable for the risk of the drawing being pirated.\n\nImagine instead, she first gives the drawing to her friend, and asks her friend to bring it to the other room her husband is in, without looking at it. If the drawing ends up online, her possible recourse may be more limited, because the 2 people accountable for the risk can each blame each other, either not seeing fault or at least not admitting it.\n\nSingle-party accountability should not be confused with a [[single-party-politics|single-party political system]]. The two can mix, but instead politicians often go to great lengths to avoid being accountable at all.",
