Open Design Challenge #01: User Interviews for Bitcoin P2P accommodation webApp

``` ODC #000001 - UX > UNDERSTAND ``` ### `Designing Journey Maps for a Bitcoin P2P accommodation webApp` [_If you miss it, please read our **WTF is ODC** (Open Design Challenge) intro post from more details._](https://stacker.news/items/393580/r/Design_r) - - - ## Scenario You were hired as a freelancer to do some user research for a new P2P accommodation webApp (competitors are `AirBnb` and `CouchSurfing`) that uses (only) bitcoin as anonymous payment method. You want to get to know your future users (both personas, _guests_ and _hosts_) and their current workflows better so you can create a smooth experience for them when using the app that you'll might design. Furthermore, you need to understand things like: What is their current booking process like? Would they prefer paying with [Lighting Sats](https://lightning.network) or [BTC onchain](https://bitcoin.org)? Ever thought about near-perfect privacy ecash like [cashu](https://cashu.space/)? What do they use accommodation for? Where are the pain points in that process? How do they feel about their current booking options? How the host will trust an anonymous guest without KYC? And how a guest will trust a host to not being a scam? Which other questions you'd ask? - - - ## Task Make a plan for, and carry out four real user interviews (three _guests_ and three _hosts_) on the subject of P2P accommodation experience. Aim to pull out specific insights that would inform the features and design of this new booking app. Analyze your findings and put together some recommendations based on what you've learned. **Extra Credit:** Perform five (or more) interviews for each persona, instead of three. - - - ## Guides If you need help with this challenge, check out our hand-picked tutorial recommendations. - **User Interviews: How, When, and Why to Conduct Them** on [nngroup.com](https://www.nngroup.com/articles/user-interviews/) - **A Cheatsheet for User Interview and Follow Ups Questions** on [stephaniewalter.design](https://stephaniewalter.design/blog/a-cheatsheet-for-user-interview-and-follow-ups-questions/) - **12 Ways To Improve User Interview Questions** on [smashingmagazine.com](https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2020/06/user-interview-questions/) - **Questions to Ask When You Conduct a User Research Interview** on [piped.video](https://piped.video/watch?v=auQCdrRfYas) - - - ## Tools Not sure which tools to use? What motivates them to get on and use the app? - - - ## Task Select an Lightning entertainment streaming company who will be your imaginary employer for this challenge. ODC #03: Competitive Analysis for a Commission-FREE P2P exchange mobile app
``` ODC #000003 - UX > UNDERSTAND ``` ### `Designing Competitive Analysis for a P2P Commission-FREE exchange mobile app` [_If you miss it, please read our **WTF is ODC** (Open Design Challenge) intro post from more details._](https://stacker.news/items/393580/r/Design_r) - - - ## Scenario You’re a product designer in a large bitcoin corporation. Management has decided to build a new mobile app that lets people buy and sell bitcoin peer-to-peer and commission-free Bitcoins. You're put on the design team for this new app. Since it's early in the process, you're asked to review the competitive design landscape by identifying and researching similar apps. The design team will use your analysis to find opportunities to stand out and differentiate the product. - - - ## Task Perform a competitive analysis of existing mobile applications that would be the competitors of this fictional app. Create a report of what you find. Extra Credit: Include specific recommendations in the report about how your team can differentiate the app and what design opportunities you can take advantage of. - - - ## Guides If you need help with this challenge, check out our hand-picked tutorial recommendations. - **Competitive Usability Evaluations** on [nngroup.com](https://www.nngroup.com/articles/competitive-usability-evaluations/) - **Understanding Competitive Analysis** on [Bitcoin UX Research Toolkit](https://bitcoinresearch.xyz/competitive_research) - **How to Conduct a Competitive Audit** on [dscout.com](https://dscout.com/people-nerds/conduct-a-competitive-audit) - **Essential Ingredients For Every Competitive Analysis** on [user-experience-design-1.medium.com](https://medium.com/user-experience-design-1/essential-ingredients-for-every-competitive-analysis-ce08906a4079) - **Competitive Analysis Done Right** on ![the-creative-founder.medium.com](https://medium.com/the-creative-founder/comparative-research-done-right-19710a81fe2b) - - - ## Tools Not sure which tools to use? Open Design Challenge #00: Digital Prototype for Bitcoin Covenants pull request

- - - ``` ODC #000000 - UX > IDEATE ``` ### `Designing Digital Prototype for Bitcoin Covenant implementation` [_If you miss it, please read our **WTF is ODC** (Open Design Challenge) intro post from more details._](https://stacker.news/items/393580/r/Design_r) - - - ## Scenario You're a product designer for a new bitcoin wallet (competitors are [listed here](https://darthcoin.substack.com/p/lightning-wallets-comparison#%C2%A7b-resources) thanks to @DarthCoin) and you're designing the interface to enable multiple spending rules for your bitcoins. You're at the stage of the process where you need to start making a digital prototype to test what the final Covenant implementation will feel like: things like vaults, time locks on specific UTXOs, or any other spending rule that Covenants could enable. - - - ## Task Make a high-fidelity digital prototype. This prototype should demonstrate the flow of creating several spending rules for everyday and future transactions. You can review your competitors to see what kinds of things would be on an app like this. You may want to start with a wireframe. **Extra Credit:** Add some interactivity to the prototype so that people looking at it can get a feel for what it would be like to use this interface on the final product. - - - ## Guides If you need help with this challenge, check out our hand-picked tutorial recommendations. - **Investigate covenants #607** on [github.com](https://github.com/BitcoinDesign/Meta/issues/607) - **An early description of covenants in Bitcoin** on [bitcointalk.org](https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=278122.0) - **Bitcoin vaults without covenants** on [bitcoinops.org](https://bitcoinops.org/en/topics/vaults/) - **Learning Bitcoin and Design #13: Covenants** on [piped.video](https://piped.video/watch?v=rCQKqe2XCqI) - - - ## Tools Not sure which tools to use?
